Exposure-based approaches
Exposure-based approaches help people face feared situations, thoughts or physical sensations that cause fear or distress and affect daily life. These may include social situations, panic-like physical sensations or upsetting thoughts and memories linked to anxiety or trauma, as well as more specific fears such as spiders, heights or flying.
These approaches can also help people managing a range of mental health conditions, including generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, specific phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They help you learn to stop avoiding things that make you anxious and learn ways to cope, making it easier to manage anxious feelings over time.
